Double degree and Stay Abroad

No single research group alone is able to answer the scientific questions that we have outline above. We need a strong group of individuals who are willing to cross the borders of their disciplines. The long-standing collaboration between our three universities convinced us (and our funders) that this is the right team to launch this endeavour. The scientific projects are thus spanning disciplines and continents. When you become part of our team, you need to have a good understanding of the work of all partners, and you will get that. To this end, each PhD project includes one or more research stays of up to 12 months at the partner universities. We encourage you to persue a double degree, i.e. a PhD from both the German and the Australian University.

We have designed the regulations of our graduate school to meet the requirements of Bayreuth, Melbourne and Monash simultaneously. We will reimburse travel costs and increased expenses for living and accommodation in Australia compared to Germany. The University of Bayreuth is running a gateway office in Melbourne to simplify administrative matters.
